What A Gem! Original Foxed Mirror Plate With Layers Of Old Blue Distressed Paint.
Original distressed blue painted frame, very heavy and the original foxed mirror plate.
The framed mirror is from the later part of the 19th century. The wide frame looks like hard word, has a flat inner border with a raised profile. The frame has been painted several times i its life and has several layers with the light blue being the later finish.
Extremely well worn as you would expect from something around 140 years old. But the character it offers you is delightful. Chipped, scrapped and flaking paint is the best way to describe it and I wouldn't want it any other way, to be honest.
The mirror plate is original, mirror plate has all the charming foxing at the top, or the bottom depending on how you would like to position the mirror in your room.
If you want a mirror to dominate the room, this achieves it perfectly. At 208cm (82 inches tall) or just under 7 foot tall, with a width of 112.5cm (44 inches) it certainly catches the light.
The back has the original old planked pine which is nice to see, plus all the old nails holding them in place.
Period: 1880-1900, 19th Century
Material: Hardwood, Foxed Mirror, Pine Planked Back.
