Description
A rustic, well-built and pretty Victorian pine chest of drawers with a distinctive patination highlighting two contrasting tones of pine. The darker frame, planked top and knobs sit against slightly lighter drawer fronts, creating depth and visual interest typical of the late 19th-century period.
Construction features include original brass escutcheons over brass locks rebated into the drawer fronts, reinforced drawer bottoms intended for clothing storage, and profiled quadrant finishing edges to each drawer. The planked top retains its original thumbnail edge detail with visible period nails securing the top firmly to the cabinet structure.
Supporting the cabinet is a solid planked back and a square plinth base providing stability and raising the piece slightly from the floor. A beautiful and practical Victorian antique, perfect for a bedroom or dressing room and offering traditional storage with enduring charm and genuine Victorian authenticity.
