Full Description

This striking pair of Regency armchairs dates to circa 1810 and demonstrates the refined craftsmanship and classical influence characteristic of the period. Each chair is crowned with a softly pillow-carved top rail, framing an elegant lyre-style back centred around a finely executed brass foliate inlay — a detail that immediately elevates the design and adds a subtle decorative contrast to the warm mahogany.

The arms are beautifully formed in bentwood, flowing seamlessly into bobbin-turned supports that enhance both strength and visual rhythm. Below, the front legs and cross stretcher feature precise ring-turned detailing, lending balance and symmetry to the overall silhouette.

The light mahogany displays a rich, natural tone with visible grain, complementing the hand-woven cane seats which remain structurally sound and visually appealing. While these chairs may once have accommodated loose squab cushions, the cane itself offers both comfort and durability and has aged gracefully.

Perfectly suited for flanking an occasional or wine table, positioning within a bedroom, or adding authenticity to a period-inspired sitting room, this pair offers timeless elegance with genuine historical presence. Supplied and priced as a pair.
