FULL DESCRIPTION

This English Regency burr walnut candlestand table, dating to circa 1815–1825, is a graceful example of early 19th century design, where proportion, material and restraint were paramount.

The circular top is crafted from finely figured burr walnut, displaying natural swirling grain patterns unique to each cut of timber. The depth and movement within the veneer create a subtle visual drama, especially when caught in natural light. The timber has mellowed beautifully over time, developing a rich honeyed tone that only genuine age can produce.

Raised upon a slender central column terminating in a tripod base, the table demonstrates the Regency preference for lightness and architectural clarity. The legs are elegantly drawn and well-spaced, providing both stability and refinement. This balance between delicacy and structure is a hallmark of quality Regency craftsmanship.

Originally intended as a candlestand, such tables were placed beside seating to support a single candle or small oil lamp. Today, it functions effortlessly as an occasional table, side table, or refined lamp table — equally suited beside a Georgian armchair, in a hallway vignette, or layered within a more contemporary interior for contrast.

For collectors of early 19th century English furniture, this is a piece that offers both decorative beauty and period integrity.
