Description
The door tells much of this cupboard’s story. Its vertical pine boards are plainly made, but the two pierced panels near the top have been given a repeating pattern of curved tracery. perforated metal sheeting sits behind the openings. The result is useful ventilation worked into the design of the furniture, rather than added as an afterthought.
The surrounding construction is equally considered. Cock beading gives the door opening a fine, defined edge. Above it, a stepped cornice lends the cupboard height and presence; below, a simple pencil-rounded plinth settles it firmly on the floor. The proportions are tall and relatively shallow, offering useful storage without the depth of a wardrobe.
