Art Nouveau Mahogany Hall Tree With Mirror & Fretwork
Art Nouveau inspired hall tree, coat, stick & umbrella stand, circa 1890-1910
A pretty design has been incorporated in to this substantial Art Nouveau hall tree. Short on cupboard or coat space? This extremely well made hat, coat & umbrella stand takes care of the entrance hall and will greet your guests and takes care of their coats very nicely.
Made from a warm, richly coloured mahogany. The front has two turned legs, while the back legs form part of the frame and structure. The umbrella and stick gallery has tulips designed into the front rail that meet the turned legs , which are finished with a finial. Plus, the two original drips trays are still present!
There is a tidy away drawer, handy for your keys, with a charming Art Nouveau metal back plate and drop handle, neatly covered by an overhanging mahogany worktop. Above is a raised and fielded panel with open fret sides to the left and right. Above this is a large original bevelled mirror plate, with a a picture bead detail. Four Art Nouveau open cast double hooks for coats and hats.
Overall the design is in keeping with the Art Nouveau period of 1890-1910, so this piece touches the end of the Victorian period and start of the Edwardian era. But the stand out detail for me is the Art Nouveau floral fretwork at the top incorporating flowing stems of tulips.

Condition: As you can imagine, our products have had a life before we got them, been used and cherished by many others before we received them.
