19th century English school of art - The still life oil on canvas depicts a still life scene of apples, a muskmelon and black grapes amongst foliage with a Blue Tit perched to the side.
A classic 19th century work of art that the artist has created a very detailed and colourful scene. The forefront has varied colours of pink roses immediately drawing your eye to the centre of the canvas. Allowing you to then glance around the oil painting and examine the extraordinary detail the artist has captured. Especially the incredible detail of the muskmelon also referred to as a cantaloupe which is part of the gourd family.
Mounted in a carved, gesso and giltwood frame. The frame itself is very detailed with a foliate design and a bevelled mat border holding the art work in place. Overall the frame has a nice consistent age and compliments the oil on canvas artwork nicely, and I would say this is probably the original frame when you look at the reverso. The painting is unsigned.
