Iconic Herbert Terry & Sons Model 1209 (1933 - 1968) anglepoise lamp in near original condition. This 1209 model has the original cream paint finish, plenty of wear, chips and original capped springs.
In my opinion one of the best fluid movements they made with a near perfect balance in the various positions.
This is the version with the longer arms at 47cm (18 inches) rather than the short arm version. The lower arms have three two at the front one to the rear with two springs. The top is constructed with two arms and two springs and the arms fold flat when fully extended.
This 1209 model is one up from the original Prototype (1932 - 1933) which had the taller cast base. By no means definitive as there are various versions or subtle difference between models such as the materials available at the time to build them.
This all aside, the 1209 is an iconic model and now becoming much more rare and very hard to find.
