This antique Victorian brass telescopic wine table dates from the latter half of the 19th century, a period celebrated for its confident blend of ornamentation and mechanical innovation. Designed to be both decorative and practical, telescopic tables such as this were favoured in drawing rooms and parlours, where flexibility of use was essential.
The table is centred around a striking wrythen brass column — a spiral-turned form that reflects Baroque and Rococo influences revived during the Victorian era.
