Industrial Iron Clad Scratch Built Pine Travelling Cupboard
Utilitarian, extremely well built travelling chest with an unusual design of having two hinged doors to the front and clad along the edges with metal strap work.
Solidly made with nice thick pieces of long grown pine, the doors have solid centre panels (raised & fielded inside), with a simple shaker designed doors overlapping each other with a steel trim at the front with flush door bolts, top & bottom inside to the left hand door.
Plus, iron hinges to each door and a very sturdy hand forged drop handle and plate to each side for ease of transporting from place to place. One middle shelf in side and years of wear across the whole piece. The whole piece is raised up on two heavily worn skid feet to each corner. Also, the shelf has a round finger hole in the centre allowing you to pull the shelf out of its guide slots.
What I find quite unique and very handy is being able to access the storage from the front, allowing you to stand items on top. Unlike a lot of chests and cupboards they always had hinged tops.
Great industrial look and feel to the piece from the mid 1800's.
Has a 'W' stamped in to the frame of the left hand door. So, if you name is Wilbert, William, Walter or Wilfred, step forward as this must be yours!
Extremely well built & versatile piece of furniture. Place your lamps on it as a side table, TV, drinks cabinet or shoe cupboard to name a few.

Condition: As you can imagine, our products have had a life before we got them, been used and cherished by many others before we received them. Therefore, you will see signs of ageing, natural wear, fading & marks which create their unique look. It was used as a travelling cupboard, so there is plenty of wonderful scars showing its history. Overall the condition is good and the condition is commensurate with its age.
