Rustic Pine Two Door Cupboard - Late 19th Century

When you encounter a piece like this, it begins to tell its story immediately.

This is one of the finest late 19th-century pine two-door cupboards I've seen in quite some time, and its size is just perfect.

The color is exquisite, the design is charming, and it proudly displays the journey it's been on. Despite its age, it’s clear this cupboard has been carefully preserved and treated with great care.

The surface wear, typical of old pine, is a testament to its history. The wood itself is like a map, revealing the traces of time, including ancient signs of long-inactive woodworm that have left a distinctive pattern. Yet, with all that history, this cupboard has been meticulously cared for, treated over the years, and remains completely solid and sound.

These qualities make this cupboard truly beautiful in every way. The intricate fretwork skirting on the front and sides adds to its charm, while the Shaker-style flat doors, crafted from solid pine, feature raised and fielded panels with delicate beading along the edges.

It also retains its original diamond-shaped brass escutcheon, complete with the original lock and key, and inside, you'll find a brass hook door retainer resting on the shelf.

It’s rare to find such quality and character in pine furniture today.
