Mid-20th Century Shiraz Handmade rug from South West Persia
A Shiraz rug is a type of Persian rug made in villages around the City of Shiraz. These rugs are woven with an asymmetrical knot.
This rug has a wide border running around all four sides, the band has several detailed designs adding interest and structure to the piece. The centre of the rug is full of shapes and colours, some animals, and others imaginary shapes. There is something new to notice each time you look. The fringes on both ends and the side stitching is all in good condition.
In earthy tones of browns, reds, and blues, with highlights of cream to set it all off, this is an ideal rug to throw on the floor and use. What I love is that they have had a previous life, but have so much more to give.
